TYPES OF TEXT IN ENGLISH

1.    DESCRIPTIVE
Descriptive text is a text that describes a person , object or a specific place so that the reader can imagine as if it were told it was real .
Ø Communicative goals :provide information about the characteristics of a person , object or a specific place .
Ø Text Structure :
· Identification / Introduction : characteristics of a person , an object or a particular place will be described.
· Description / Description : describes the characteristics of a person , object or place, such as shape , size , color , origin , relish and other special features .

2.    NARRATIVE
Narrative text is a text that tells the story follow the flow of time.
§  Communicative purpose : Entertain the listener or reader with a real or imaginary experience . Characteristic of narrative is the element of conflict ( problem ) and resolutions ( problem solving ) .
§  Text Structure :
v The introduction of background : characters , time , and place .
v Development of conflict .
v Conflict resolution .
v Koda : changes in the character or the lessons that can be learned from the story .
 
           3.       PROCEDURE
Procedure text is a text which explains clearly how to make or do something .
Ø Communicative purposes :Gives instructions on how to do something through a series of actions or steps .
Ø Text Structure : Goal / Aim / Goal - Materials / Tools / Materials / Equipment - Steps / Methods / Steps


          4.      RECOUNT
Recount text is a text which retells events that have occurred sequentially by using a clear description of time in the past
Ø Communicative purposes : Reported events, happenings or events in order to preach or entertain .
Ø Structure of the text :
¨      Orientation : Introduction of providing the information or objects that perform or are involved in it , as well as the time , place , situation , etc. ;
¨      Event 1 , Event 2 ... : The series of events , which are usually delivered in sequence .
¨      Re -orientation : The conclusion of the series of events that occurred . Reorientation is not always there to text recount .

           5.      REPORT
Text Report has similarities with descriptive text , a text report gives an overview of something not detailed as in the descriptive text
Ø Communicative goals : Deliver information about something , they are, as a result of systematic observation or analysis .
Ø Text structure :
§  General Classification ( general classification , which classifies or determine in general which includes the class .
§  Description : the description of the description or the picture common parts available to him , rank , dam its properties . Usually a general description .
